Educators

Duckweed is a photosynthetic aquatic plant that is already being used to conduct scientific experiments. Students have been able to easily design and conduct lab experiments that examine the effects of environmental conditions on the survival and growth of this floating aquatic flora.

The quality that distinguishes duckweed experiments from other plant experiments done in the lab is that the results of the parameters being measured will take less than a week instead of months to become visibly evident. Thus students will be motivated to use the information gained in the first experiment to design and conduct follow up experiments.
